New Look, New Name and a Kick up the bum.

Do you like the new look? I decided to do a total revamp and have given myself a new name for this blog 'Heritage Historia' as part of my big blog shake up. The etymology of the meaning is;

Heritage

a) Something inherited at birth, such as personal characteristics, status, and possessions.
b) Anything that has been transmitted from the past or handed down by tradition or culture.
c) The evidence of the past, such as historical sites, buildings and unspoilt natural environment, considered collectively as the inheritance of present day society.

Historia

from the ancient Greek istoria meaning "inquiry, knowledge acquired by investigation"

I thought that covered what I want to do with this blog. Mainly it will be about my family and local history with maybe a touch of folklore thrown in to the mix. I can't promise there will not be a bit of overlap between my other blogs. My faith is integral to me and my ancestors are part of that, my love of arts and crafts follows through all my passions about life.  I hope it will be of interest to someone as I share my hunt for my ancestors and their stories as well as some of the heritage around me.

I do acknowledge thought that I need a kick up the bum to restart my genealogy hunt and start to re organize the information I already have. To this end I'm going to try two things,

1) I've signed up for a college course on writing up your family history, which will start in October.

2) I'm going to start and play along with Tonia Kendricks of Tonia's Roots new genealogy blogging series '31 weeks of Better Genealogy Blogging' which I've just discovered and seems to be the ideal thing to give me that kick. I'm already 2 weeks behind as this is the 3rd week, so I'm going to try to catch up with it this week so I will be ready for week 4 next week.
